Softree components can all work with geo-referenced data. It is not recommended that you use a UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) coordinate system within Softree due to rounding errors (we only handle 7 significant figures in coordinates at this time). However it is straightforward to convert local to UTM coordinates at export time.

The File-Save As function (all modules) allows you to Save file as type Autocad Format (*.DXF). After you have chosen a file name and responded OK, you are prompted to select which item types (Layers) to include in your DXF (press F1 for details). There is also a Rotate, Translate button which allows you to shift your local coordinate system to UTM. For example if you have a tie point in the field with UTM coordinates x=635030.3, y=5541649.9 and Softree/98 shows the local coordinate for the same point is x=90.2, y=313.7 then the amount you must shift on export is x=634940.1 (=635030.3-90.2), y=5541336.2 (=5541649.9-313.7). Type these subtracted offset values into the Offset X:, Offset Y: fields in the Rotate, Translate dialog box. You can reverse this process to bring UTM references into your Softree/98 local coordinate system.

You may wish to define a local coordinate system that is used for all Softree/98 data. If you are using the same UTM grid as for the above example, you might choose the UTM point x=600000, y=5500000 as your local origin. In this case if you wish to tie to a GPS acquired point with UTM coordinates x=635030.3, y=5541649.9 (as above) you create a tie point in Survey/Map with coordinates x=35030.3, y=41649.9 (subtract local origin). And if you wish to export, you put x=600000, y=5500000 into the Rotate, Translate dialog box offsets (add local origin).
