Exporting a
Profile to LoggerPC
|
The following procedure describes how to export ground profiles from Terrain Tools for use with LoggerPC1. To do this example you will need Terrain Tools version 3.037 or higher and Microsoft Excel®. 1) With a D-Line (ground profile) feature selected in the Terrain module, choose File Save As, and under Save File As Type: choose Ascii Coordinates (*.ASC). 2) In Excel®, select File Open, under File of Type:, choose All files (*.*). Select the *.ASC file saved in the previous step. The Text Import Wizard dialog will appear. Choose Delimited and press Next. Choose Comma, press Next and then Finish. When the file appears in your spreadsheet, delete all columns other than the ones containing X (easting), Y (northing), and Z (elevation) information. From menu File Save As from Save as Type:, choose CSV (comma delimited) (*.CSV). Give your Ascii file a name and press OK. 3) Run LoggerPC and select Profile - New, followed by Import. After pressing OK, The Import Profile dialog box will appear. Select Ascii File and press OK. The Import File Specification dialog box will open. This dialog box will accept X, Y, and Z information in any combination. Select easting (X) for the first data item, northing (Y) for the second data item and elevation (Z) for the third data item. Select comma as the delimiter. Press OK. The D-line will open. 1 Logger PC is a cable logging analysis program developed and distributed by Oregon State University.
