You may have noticed that File-Save As in the Survey/Map Module will not copy existing Location designs to the new traverse. Here is a way to rename a traverse without losing the attached location designs:

1. Use Windows Explorer (or any file manager) to rename the traverse files with the following extensions: DB1, DB2, DB3, KY1, KY2. (For example travold .db1 becomes travnew.db1, travold .db2 becomes travnew.db2, travold .db3 becomes travnew.db3, travold .ky1 becomes travnew.ky1, travold .ky2 becomes travnew.ky2.) Do NOT rename the DSN or DS1 files.
   
2. Run Notepad (or any text editor) and open the associated Location DSN file(s) (For example travold.dsn) and change the RoadName= item from the old traverse name to the new one.
   
   [design]
   roadname=travold
   
   [design]
   roadname=travnew
   
3. You may now open the design with the Location module and rename it using File-Save As if desired. You may also wish to delete the old design using File-Delete File(s).

Back up your original files before you start.
